Extra Virgin and Cold-Pressed Olive Oil

Although it seems a contradiction, olive oil is very good for treating oily skin. Olive oil soothes the sebaceous glands so they produce less oil. You can put olive oil after washing your face at night. Just leave it all night and you can wash your face normally  the next day. My friend has oily skin and this remedy has served him well.

Egg Astringent for Oily Skin

Sunflower Astringent for Oily Skin

Another very good astringent for oily skin is to add 1/2 cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of sunflower oil to 1/2 cup of hot water. Mix well and let it cool. Clean your skin with this mixture.

Tomato Tonic

A tomato tonic is an easy and effective solution for treating oily skin. Tomato is naturally acidic, so it helps balance the pH of the skin and get rid of excess oil. Peel the tomatoes and remove the seeds. Crush it and add 30 g of glycerin. Apply it on the skin at the same day.

Honey and Lemon

When you buy products for your face, they should be oil-free. The aim of this advice is obviously not to add more oil to the skin. Whether you buy a moisturizers, sunscreen or makeup, choose those with oil-free labeled. When you go to buy anti acne treatments, choose the water-based products rather than cream or ointment-based.

According to dermatologists, cleaning your face in the morning and in the evening is the most effective way to control oily skin. Dr. April Armstrong, Director of the Psoriasis Program at Department of Dermatology, University of Colorado School of Medicine says "Always use a mild cleanser, since harsh soaps can stimulate the skin to increase the production oil.
